Reviewing 2016

Happy 2017, my friends! Another year has flown by… holy smokes. One of my favorite things to do with the New Year is reflect on all God did over the past year. Does anyone else enjoy this? I think I love it so much because I end up feeling overwhelmed with all of the different ways I see God show up. Helloooo blessings! I made a big long list in my journal of my favorite parts of this past year and turned it into a condensed version for this blog post.

  1. Marriage and Family

If you would’ve told me a year ago that I’d be getting married in 2016, I would’ve laughed! Not only did the Lord bring my husband into my life, but he also united my sister and brother-in-law and the Wilbur family grew by 2. I absolutely love our new family of 6 and the new balance that testosterone brings. 😉

God also blew me away with the new family he gave me through the Roberts tribe. It has been a natural fit and I love spending time with them! Brady and I are beyond thankful and blessed with the families we get to be part of.

  1. Travel

I absolutely LOVE to travel and experience new places and cultures. This year brought quite a bit of it, with a surprise cruise to the Bahamas, visiting a best friend in Colorado Springs, time in Nashville with friends, loving a new community in Carthage, Missouri, a quick jaunt to LA with Brady (more on that later), a honeymoon in Hawaii, and we ended the year in beautiful Seattle. Whew!

  1. Jesus is Working!

One thing that I loved thinking about is all of the ways I’ve seen Jesus working in the lives around me. It is so evident that he cares about us as individuals and seeks to take care of us. I’ve loved getting to witness his faithful hand in family members and friends. I won’t go into too much depth here, but His faithfulness is true, everlasting, and always present. Thank you Jesus!

  1. Church Planting

One HUGE thing that is now on the radar for Brady and I is planting a church in Wichita, Kansas. We have been praying about this opportunity for months, attended an assessment in LA to make sure we are the right fit, and are now so pumped to reach a new people group for Christ. We will be working alongside Brady’s brother and our sister-in-law and their girls, which is half of our excitement. We feel led and confirmed in this direction. There are so many unknowns and surprises and challenges to come! I am looking forward to a season of fully depending on Christ, and I believe with all my heart we will continue to be overwhelmed by his faithfulness in our lives and in the church.

  1. Experiencing Community

The Lord was really faithful this past year in providing community through several avenues. I loved spending time with my high school girl’s small group, adult small group, coaching community, and meeting lots of new people through Brady. Community is so precious… there’s nothing quite like sharing life with others. I look forward to continuing to build community this next year!

I am so thankful for these things, and excited about all that is to come. Even on the hard days each year, we can trust that God is good, He is in control, and His faithfulness will never end. Cheers to 2017! 🙂
